Mark is in his second year studying classical trombone performance at the University of Auckland studying with Doug Cross after a year with Ben Zilber. This is his fourth year playing with the Auckland Youth Orchestra.
His initial aspiration was to be able to play the theme from Star Wars and this was finally fulfilled in 2016 when he had the opportunity to play music from the recent Star Wars – The Force Awakens, with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, as an Orchestral Intern. Mark plays an eclectic range of musical genres including jazz and brass band.
After graduating from Mt Roskill Grammar School, Mark was invited to play in the Amici Trust’s Auckland productions of The Phantom of the Opera at the Civic and Evita at the Bruce Mason Centre. Groups he has played with include the Manukau Symphony Orchestra, NZSO National Youth Orchestra, Dalewool Auckland Brass and Aucktet. He is also involved with the APO Young Achievers Programme.
