Lydia Zhu

Lydia is a fifteen year-old student studying at King’s College.  She started playing the violin five years ago and is currently learning from Mark Bennett.  2024 is her second year in AYO.

Lydia achieved her Grade 8 ABRSM with distinction and is a Music Scholarship recipient at King’s College. She enjoys playing with various music groups, such as school orchestras, the University of Auckland Symphony Orchestra, being involved in the KBB music festival, chamber music ensembles and more. 

Besides violin, Lydia is also an oboist learning from Camille Wells. She plays the oboe for King’s College and is loving playing from a different perspective.

Outside of music, Lydia loves making new friends, traveling and sailing. She enjoys competing in international regattas and cruising around the harbour with her friends.
