Joseph Chen

Joseph began learning the violin at the age of four, thinking it was the guitar. By seven, he realised the two were different instruments, and though slightly disappointed, continued learning the violin.

He has since achieved his LRSM (Violin Performance) in 2012 and been incredibly privileged to play in a wide range of chamber and orchestral ensembles such as: the Doremi Dudes, the amorous Gramareu, the Devonport Chamber Orchestra, and the Auckland Youth Orchestra. With music deeply ingrained in his upbringing, he lives his world through the scope of music and actively pursues an amateur full-time immersion in enchanting audio landscapes of all kinds.

On the side of his wild musical adventures, he is currently a postgraduate student in Biomedical Science at the University of Auckland where he intends to try to uncover mysteries within the field of neuroscience.
