Evan Metcalfe is in his third year at the University of Auckland, studying a conjoint degree of Bachelor of Music majoring in French Horn Performance and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Part II.5.
Evan has been a member of the AYO for 9 years, playing as Principal Horn since 2022. Evan has also performed with the NZSSSO in 2017, received an NZSO mentorship in 2018, and an internship to play with the Auckland Philharmonia in 2019. In 2019, Evan was awarded an ATCL Performance Diploma from Trinity College London with Distinction.
Since starting university, Evan has worked professionally with groups such as the Auckland Philharmonia (APO), Sol3 Mio, and Kulios Candlelight Orchestras, as well as regularly teaching high-school horn students. Evan has been a member of the NZSO National Youth Orchestra since 2019 and won the Principal Horn seat in 2023.
