Esther Oh (they/them), in their second year of university, studies violin and conducting. Qualifications include the NZQA Scholarship for Music, the Trinity College London Diploma in Violin Performance (with Distinction), and they are involved in secondary school music education across Tāmaki Makaurau as a violin teacher.
They have performed in the Manukau Symphony Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra, and with the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra as the soloist. In 2023, Esther was selected to play in national masterclasses for Anne-Sophie Mutter, Ilya Gringolts, Sergey Malov, and Ben Morrison (Vienna Philharmonic, 1st Violin). Esther has received tutelage from Stephen Larsen, Andrew Beer and Donald Armstrong, and is currently studying with Mark Bennett. In the occasional programme, they may be spotted playing amongst the violas.
