Esther is 14 years old and attends Epsom Girls’ Grammar School. She comes from South Korea.
When she first heard the cello she loved the sound of it, so she wanted to learn to play cello. Esther won 1st prize trophy in the Hamilton Competition 2013 and 1st prize trophy in the Te Awamutu Competition 2014. She passed Grade 8 in 2015 with Distinction.
Esther played in the United Youth Orchestra in Hamilton from 2013 and she has played in the Bay of Plenty Symphonia since 2014. She was also accompanied by BOP Symphonia as one of the finalists for the Rising Star Competition 2015. Esther was semi-finalist for NZCT 2016. In 2015 she won a Pettman National Junior Academy of Music scholarship and has been learning under Edith Salzmann (Senior Lecturer of Auckland University Music) since then.
