Alex Wu

Alex Wu started playing the oboe at the age of 8, and he has been learning from Martin Lee for almost 3 years.

Alex has previously been the principal oboe of the Youth Orchestra Waikato and Aotea Youth Symphony. He won the Intermediate section of the New Zealand Double Reed Society Competition in 2019 and 2021, the Most Promising Oboist Prize in the Intermediate section of the Australian Double Reed Competition in 2020, and the Second Prize in the Open section of the NZDRS Competition in 2022.

Outside of music, Alex loves to do sabre fencing and speed roller-skating.
