AYO is delighted to announce the winner of the 2019 Composition Competition: Kihoon Sung with his work Niflheim. In Norse mythology, Niflheim is one of the nine worlds and is known as the realm of ice. The work depicts this realm before it was completely frozen over.
Kihoon has developed his passion for composing with guidance from New Zealand composer David Hamilton and his music teacher Barry Wasson. Kihoon is now in his second year in the University of Auckland, studying music composition and chemistry and is currently being taught by various New Zealand composers.
Congratulations to Kihoon – we look forward to rehearsing his composition and to performing it in our September concert series. Come hear it!
